Defective product
In February, a consumer bought a new Xiomi Viomi V2 robot vacuum cleaner for EUR 295 online. In March, he discovered several defects in the functioning of the device, e.g. one of the side brushes stopped functioning, and therefore the device was sent for repairs. After the repairs, the device was collected, but soon started to malfunction again and the repaired brushed stopped functioning again.
After several unsuccessful attempts by the consumer to contact the Austrian seller (by e-mail, an online form, and phone), the consumer reached out to ECC Slovenia, which studied the case and referred it to ECC Austria for further consideration. With regard to Directive 1999/44/EC on certain aspects of the sale of consumer goods and associated guarantees, the product was not in compliance with the contract.
After an intervention by ECC Austria, the seller started to cooperate and reimbursed the consumer the purchase costs. Once the consumer notified us of receiving payment from the seller, we concluded the case.
